Marbella is a large city and municipality on the Costa del Sol. It belongs to the province of Málaga. Marbella has a reputation of a luxurious tourist resort. It is also one of the most important tourist resorts in the coast. 

There are more than 141000 people living all year round in Marbella but also attracts tourist throughout the whole year. Marbella is also culturally very active location. Marbella has a long history and a beautiful old town. A small botanical garden can also be found between the old town and the sea in which there is a collection of ten sculptures by Salvador Dali, which connects the old town with the beach.

In Marbella thers is a street called the Golden Mile. This is situated at the western edge of Marbella and actually four miles long (6,4 km). It reaches even to Puerto Banús and this area is home to some of Marbella’s most luxurious villas and estates with views of mountain and sea. A motorway divides the Golden Mile into two parts. Business centres, five-star hotels, golf course and other services can be found along the motorway. The beachside of the motorway is fully developed, while the mountain side is still undergoing development.

Locations can be found in the seven main districts in Marbella, each of which is divided into further sub-neighbourhoods. These districts (from west to east) are San Pedro, Puerto Banus, Neuva Andalucía, West Marbella, Golden Mile, Town Centre and East Marbella.

Coastal cities are easily accessible by bus from Marbella. The closest airport is situated in Málaga, 53 kilometres from Marbella.
